ASPEN, COLORADO

This hillside house was originally constructed in the 1980s before an addition and remodel in 2000 re-envisioned the home with a postwar-modern aesthetic – in the spirit of Aspen’s unique modernist movement and Bauhausian influence. Given the extensive work by Bill Lipsey to create this unique residence, our role in renovating the home aimed to honor the modernist theme, while completely remodeling the interior and exterior with new systems, materiality and finishes reflective of the new owner’s identity, Aspen’s evolving culture and a continuation of artistic expression. The resultant exterior form and architecture delicately shift the palette of materials and colors while preserving the timeless modern style. The interiors blend the prior vision with new surfaces, lighting and updated details for a personal touch influenced by the client, and our partnered interior designer. The overall renovation both preserves the vision of the past while updating spaces to meet modern comforts, for a truly unique response reflective of the client’s artistic desires.
Many thanks to the partnership of Key Elements Construction, and Heidi Welker for helping craft this remarkable renovation with us.
