COMO, COLORADO

This off-grid family retreat was design to efficiently meet the needs of an empty-nest couple longing for a place in Colorado’s high-country, while also having the option to expand the property for visiting guest with two detached suites. All under one roof, the gap between the primary-home and guest-rooms serves as a wind protected entry and covered outdoor living area, taking cue from the traditional American style dogtrot floor plan.
The simplistic geometry of the home, along with the hardy and rustic exterior materials allow the property to endure harsh winters, beating winds and relentless sun, responding intentionally to the challenges of the high-alpine climate in the Southern Rockies.
Interior spaces are clad in warming wood materials with breathtaking views of the high-alpine outcroppings and distant peaks. Designed for simple and comfortable living, the home encourages relaxation and a keen appreciation of the natural beauty of its vast surroundings.
