ASPEN, COLORADO
This single-family residence was envisioned to tuck modestly into the hills of an Aspen neighborhood, and designed in reaction to a steep and dynamic site. The resulting design solution is posed in balance with the land, reaching outward to welcome natural beauty while focusing inward to create renewing spaces. From the main entrance, you see a low-slung butterfly roof with the main fireplace tower jutting through the center, creating the appearance of a floating roof swooping gently above the land. Upon entering the home, the views and spaces unfold and open with grandeur, inviting long vistas to the peaks and valley beyond. Progressing further into the heart of the home you are once again transitioned as the floor plates step down with the hillside, this time to more intimate settings of private spaces nestled into the natural beauty of the bordering aspen grove.
